We are the team of SMB, specialists for custom-engineered machines from Quickborn, Germany.
We have been developing intralogistics systems for over 40 years: fully automated pallet warehouses, palletizers and filling systems. Our customers? Big names from the food, chemical and packaging industries. Whether large corporations or medium-sized companies - we always design machines exactly to customer requirements. Imagine a large food manufacturer producing thousands of pallets of baked goods, beverage cartons, frozen goods or dry foods every day. He wants to palletize and store the products efficiently and, of course, quickly retrieve them when needed. Or a chemical company wants to fill huge quantities of solvents, cleaning agents or lubricants into drums.
Our job is to develop suitable palletizers, warehouse storage systems and filling systems that can transport and handle these huge quantities of goods. The solution is automation technology! And we not only design it ourselves, we also build it ourselves - first in our production facility in Quickborn and then on site at the customer's premises. We supply the technical components, the conveyor technology and the software. Our engineers and technicians even take care of maintenance and service.
As you can imagine, we have a lot to do.
Planning, development, construction
It all starts with an idea. Our sales department has just received an order for a fully automated pallet warehouse. Now various intralogistics experts are in demand.
The project engineer coordinates all processes and is the contact person for the customer. Mechanical design experts design the machines and systems, while electrical engineers develop the control technology and hardware components and take care of the programming and user interfaces.
Technical writers create documentation and instructions for our systems. The software developers program the warehouse management and visualization. And the commissioning engineers ensure a smooth start at the customer's site.

Production & technical manufacturing
Now it's getting tangible. The plans are taking shape in our production facility in Quickborn. Our colleagues in production and assembly turn the developers' plans into reality.
Machining mechanics operate, program and set up CNC machining centers/machines. Sheet metal workers (construction mechanics) general metalworking: welding, grinding, bending, surface treatment.

Assembly, service & technical support for machines and systems
Mechatronics engineers manufacture precise conveyor modules, electronics technicians assemble control cabinets and fitters set up the system in one of our workshops.
Our work does not end with putting into operation. We remain at our customers' side! Our service technicians ensure that the systems continue to run reliably for years to come and rectify faults. Our office staff coordinate service appointments and can be contacted via the hotline. Our software experts develop updates and new features.
